Mac Studio Fix For Indian Tan Oily Skin
Who needs an introduction to MAC? No wonder if the future generation’s first test-and-try makeup brand is MAC! Just the way Lakme was to our generation! I am a proud owner of studio fix NC#50, which for some reason I think is not right for me! MAC makeup artist said, “If I were you, I would pick the same!” Still, I might pick one more shade and mix them to get my skin tone! Studio Fix originally retails for £19 or $26 or Rs 1580/- (Indian Rupees)! Comes in 15g or 0.52 US oz classic black packaging, which also includes a black outer casing of packaging! The compact is compartmentalized into 3! One for the mirror, second for the product and third for the disc sponge! The sponge is of pure latex, which feels like skin in texture! Take good care of your sponges with mild shampoo! If your pockets are deeper, invest on spare sponges as they tend to get dirtier with usage! I am yet to wash my sponge, so I am not sure how long the sponge survives post bath! I did use the sponge a couple of times, but I reach for my mini kabuki (mikabuki LOL) most of the time! I tried using large powder brush as well, but in vain! Compared to other brushes, the bristles are so densely packed in kabuki! Hence, the flawless finish and unbeatable coverage!
I have been using this for about a year now! All I can say, Studio Fix is my Holy Grail foundation whatever! If there is any society against liquid foundation, consider I am the chairperson! Call me dumb, but so far I never managed to use a liquid foundation properly! If MAC Studio Fix foundation is considered a revolutionary invention in makeup, liquid foundation is something unworthy of discussing! I know people who swear by liquid foundation, but it’s just not for me! Long story shortly put; Studio Fix is for lazy bugs! As per the name, its foundation and powder put together to make the task easier! With Studio Fix, your routine is one step shorter! Easy peasy!
Studio Fix doesn’t smell like anything in specific! If your olfactory senses are as strong as mine, expect the smell of Fuller’s Earth! The product is finely milled and oh-so soft to touch! The coverage is more towards heavy! Sometimes I also use Lakme compact, which doesn’t give me more than a sheer coverage! I did realize that only after using Studio Fix! On a normal day, I am ready to rock with moisturizer and Studio Fix! Special days definitely need to see the light of concealer, so watch out! If you are religious user of Studio Fix, one compact should last you for more than 7 months! Depends on how frequent you get to use! No harm if more or less!
Studio Fix is layman’s foundation! I bet you can work out easily with Studio Fix even if you are totally new to makeup! Silica is a mineral-derivative used as an absorber and thickener! Talc is also a mineral-derivative used as an anti-caking agent! As per the claim, it gives your skin a flawless matte finish! My brother’s wedding; my beautician used NC#42 on me! She suggested I buy NC#42, but I could make out from the look of NC#42 that it is not for me! For some weird reason, NC#42 matched my skin tone perfect at my brother’s wedding! Quite contrary, I looked like a devil-let-loose at the store with the same NC#42!
It’s always better to prime your skin if your skin is oily! I hate to confess, but keep blotting papers handy if you can’t touch up! Unless you are a working woman or it’s your special day, you need not bother about the 8-hour claims! Practically speaking, a woman doesn’t need to stay so long with makeup on! Coming to the application part, feel free to use your favourite foundation brush, kabuki whatever! No harm if you use a sponge or powder puff! Studio Fix is one product of its kind, which is true to the claims! Are you blessed with genetically flawless skin and deeper pockets? If you are an absolutely non-fussy girl, MAC Studio Fix waits for you! Who knows? This might be your next staple!
Ingredients – Talc, Silica, Isostearyl Palmitate, Methicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Chromium Oxide Greens, Ultramarines! Made in USA! Am I visually challenged or does the packaging really speak nothing about expiry date? Who would toss out MAC Studio Fix even if it’s out dated? Not me, definitely! Sincere advice, take it or not! If you are an online shopper, make sure you buy MAC products from authentic websites!
MAC Recycle Program i.e. Back 2 MAC encourages its customers to return their used makeup containers! Exchange any 6 makeup containers for a lipstick of your choice at the local MAC store or counter! I keep hearing different versions of Back 2 MAC program! I always thought Back 2 MAC is exchange the only containers that say Back 2 MAC! But, it seems Back 2 MAC is only at the stand-alone stores! I am so damn confused, so my stuff is still lying around! If you wish to exchange your stuff, better call your local MAC! The program might differ at the stores which do MAC as well compared to the stand-alone MAC stores!
On this note, let me share something important! A little girl was in search of her HG foundation! She came to know about MAC’s wide spectrum, so she obviously expected to find her perfect match in MAC! She tested and tried a couple of wrong shades! She was very disappointed she didn’t find her perfect shade! MAC doesn’t have your perfect shade doesn’t mean it is the dead end! MAC is not everything! There are ton lot of brands in this world to explore! Why not try others and give them a chance? If your skin tone is towards darker side, explore related brands and vice versa! If you are brand-loyal and can’t find your perfect shade from that, it’s high time you branch out! Nobody is going to punish you, lovelies!
P.S – I am not a member of anti-MAC campaign! I have no intentions to degrade any brand as such! I love some MAC products inspite of the bad experiences at the store! All I intend to say; don’t stand in the circle waiting for something to come your way! Unless you come out of the circle, nothing is going to pull you out! If you don’t come out, you are definitely missing something! Brands make wide-spectrum shades do not mean they should make every shade under the sun!

Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation Review
As I had told you in my shopping haul post that I bought Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation and I was pretty excited to try it out. I had a very bad experience when it comes to foundation, I have bought so many foundations but till now I have not been able to find my exact match. I had always tried foundations from the drugstore brands like L’Oreal, Revlon, Maybelline, Lakme, Bourjois and all but all of them were not my right foundation shade, they always made my skin look either too white or too dark and sometimes ashy so this time I decided to invest in a good high quality foundation. When it comes to very good quality makeup stuff MAC is the first brand that comes to my mind. I wanted to try Mac foundations for a long time and this time when I visited Delhi I went to Mac store to buy some products.
I bought Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation in the shade NC 42. So I will be reviewing it today.
Price of the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:Rs.2800 for 40 ml.
Ingredients of the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
Shelf Life of the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
3 years from the date of manufacture.
What Mac has to say about the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation – A creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to high coverage with a natural satin finish to it. Hydrating and instantly revitalizes the skin while keeping it looking smooth, soft and plush. Long-wearing, water-resistant and offers broad spectrum SPF 15 protection.
Packaging of the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
This foundation comes in a simple, long, clear tube packaging. It is very compact hence it is very travel friendly. You can easily carry it in your handbag. You have to be very careful while squeezing out the product from the tube because if you squeeze out excess product from the tube you won’t be able to put it back because of the tube packaging. I would have been happier if this tube came with a pump but nevertheless the packaging is very chic and classy. It comes with a black rubberized cap and it gets quite dirty because it picks up fingerprints. I do not prefer rubberized caps as the fingerprints tend to look very ugly and dirty on them.
Mac Studio Fix Foundation For Dry Skin
Texture of the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
The texture of this foundation is gel-based and creamy. I like to apply my foundation with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush or with the my Real Techniques Miracle Sponge and I feel like it gives me equally good finish with both the tools. With my brush it gives me a very smooth full coverage look whereas with my sponge I get a very natural and dewy finish. This foundation blends in very nicely without making much effort. The consistency is neither too thick nor too runny which is the best part about this foundation. The finish is not at all heavy and it almost feels like my second skin. I apply a very small amount and it covers my full face with ease. I’ve heard girls recommend applying a second layer to get that full coverage look which hides all the blemishes and dark circles but I like to do that with a concealer instead. It settles down to a matte finish and provides a very natural look and finish.
Coverage of the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
This creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation gives medium to full coverage which is buildable. It is highly pigmented and a very small quantity is required to cover the whole face. It is a great formula for photography. My pics come out to be very bright and perfect after applying this one. I do not have any scars or dark blemishes on my face so I usually apply only one layer of this foundation and it gives me full coverage. Girls who have blemishes or acne scars can apply a second layer to get that flawless look. I set my foundation with my Mac Mineralize SkinFinish Natural Powder and it gives me a matte finish without drying my skin out. It is indeed a very hydrating formula.
Staying Power of the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
On my dry skin this foundation lasts all day, seriously all day. I don’t have to powder my face at all throughout the day and it stays on forever. It has the most amazing staying power. My face does not get shiny at all throughout. My face stays matte all day and it comes off only when I remove it with a makeup wipe. It has SPF 15 in it so it provides an added protection from the harmful UV rays too. It is long wearing and water resistant too.
A Gel Based Foundation:

Being a Gel Based Foundation Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation is a very hydrating formula. It is a moisture packed formula that is capable enough to hydrate dry and flaky skin instantly. Another good aspect about gel based formula products is that they stay on our skin for a very long duration.
My Experience with the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
To start with I had to find my exact match at Mac and I must say that the MUA at Mac are really very helpful and they assist you in finding the exact match and the best formula for your skin type. The MUA at Mac suggested me to try out the Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation as I have dry skin. She suggested this foundation as it has a very hydrating formula and it would be the best match for my dry skin. I was pretty keen on trying the Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation so she applied Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation on half of my face and Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation on the other half . After the application the right side of my face that had the Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation looked more brighter, felt very hydrating and looked like my second skin. On the other hand the left side of my face looked and felt a bit dry and not that luminous. I had my friend with me and she also felt that the right side of my face was looking much more natural, bright and it gave sort of a dewy feeling while the left side was not as bright and natural looking as the other side. So as suggested by the MUA and after seeing the results I picked up the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation in the shade NC 42.
Swatch of the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
I have been using this foundation for almost 20 days now and I am more than satisfied with it. I have been attending a lot of marriages and parties these days so I have been using it a lot and I feel this foundation has totally changed the way my base used to look. I know Mac products prices are a bit on the higher side but I think it is better to invest in something like this because it is totally going to change your whole makeup experience. I have to say it is my absolute best product in my makeup. It gives me a flawless, airbrush effect to my face.
To begin with Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation matches my pale skintone exactly. It is very pigmented and thick in consistency. This foundation has amazing finish and it gives my skin a very natural, dewy and healthy looking skin. I would call this formula perfect for dry skin. It is quite astonishing too see how such a heavily pigmented product blends seamlessly without much effort. It conceals all the moderate skin imperfections on my face. It is buildable but I use only a pea size amount to apply a single layer on my skin. This foundation covers all dark spots without looking like a mask or cakey on the face. It does not crease a bit during extreme hot conditions too. It evens out my skin and makes me look very radiant. This product is best match for normal to dry skin types. The finish is lovely, luminous and nice to work with. A very small amount is required so the product will last for a long time. It is my Holy Grail product and I think I won’t ever stop using it.
After Blending.

Rating of the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation:
I would give it a 4.5/5.
Would I Repurchase the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation?
Yes,I am pretty sure that I will repurchase it.
Would I recommend the Mac Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation to anyone?
I would recommend it to all dry skin beauties because it is a very hydrating foundation(I would recommend to use a very good moisturizer underneath it). It gives a very natural matte finish without being dry on the skin. I am not too sure how this will work on oily skin but I think it will work equally good for combination skin girls too. If someone with oily skin has used it please drop in your comments on how it fared on your skin.
